Emotional Agents in Educational Game Design

Evaluating the subjective playing experience and engagement in learning is important design of advanced technologies (ALTs) that respond to learners' cognitive emotional states. This article addresses students' attitudes toward an educational game, Heroes Math Island, their responses agent, animated monkey. Fifteen students (seven boys eight girls) from grades six seven participated this quasi-experimental study (pretest, intervention, post-test, followed by post-questionnaire interview). research presents a detailed analysis reactions with respect Island underlying mathematics content, gains emotions triggered during gameplay, issues resulting evaluation game its agent. The findings inform how ALTs games can be designed order effective provide engagement, enjoyment, learning.
